On the First Sunday of Advent, December 3, 2023, Bishop Thomas, in his pastoral letter, invited the entire diocese to celebrate the Diocesan Synod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of this page is and will be to provide up-to-date information about synodal happenings in our parish. Nevertheless, to begin with some basic information:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Diocesan Synod is simply about seeking where God wants to lead us in the coming years, on the topics of spreading the Gospel, the organisation of the diocese and financial management. According to this search, the bishop wants to make decisions for many years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Diocesan Synod runs from January 2024 to May 2026 and is divided into three phases, each of which concludes with a General Assembly of Synod Delegates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. stage: WHERE ARE WE?<\/strong> or TO DESCRIBE THE REALITY<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. stage: WHERE SHOULD WE GO? <\/strong>or TO FORMULATE A GOAL<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. stage: WHICH WAY SHALL WE GO? <\/strong>or TO PROPOSE WAYS<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    In each of these stages we deal specifically with the following topics for which Bishop Thomas has set out guiding questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    MISSION<\/a> or The mission to share the Good News of the Gospel with all people in the diocese<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
    A) In what specific ways do we want to help people in our diocese encounter Christ over the next ten years?<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    ARRANGEMENT<\/a> or Finding the right organisational structures for this mission<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
    B) How will we organize the limited number of priests and other pastoral staff in our diocese over the next ten years so that they can live and serve in a healthy way and all the faithful can live their faith fully? <\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT<\/a> or Co-responsibility for the financial security of this mission<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
    C) How will we materially provide for the life and ministry of our diocese over the next ten years, with the limited resources available to us? <\/strong><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n

    Dear parishioners from Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 L\u00e1zn\u011b and the surrounding area,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I am addressing you as your elected delegate for the synod meetings that will take place this year in the parishes between April and June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I would like to encourage you to think about issues that directly affect the current state of our diocese. You may say, why a synod again, when not so long ago there were similar meetings throughout the whole Catholic Church. This time, however, everything will be specifically about our Diocese of Pilsen and its future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We have the opportunity to jointly map the situation in individual parishes in the following thematic areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Mission<\/strong> \u2013 proclaiming the Gospel in the parish<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Arrangement<\/strong> \u2013 life and ministry in parishes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Financial Management<\/strong> \u2013 handling of parish property<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The first meeting, during which we will be able to experience a group synod conversation in the Spirit, will take place in the meeting room of the parish office in Nehrova Street on Friday 19 April 2024 from 18:30<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The group discussions will provide an opportunity for all participants to express their personal views on the above topics. Each of the three sessions has set rules for sharing and listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
